Caisleáin Óir Scoops Prestigious National Award
The new Irish musical “Caisleáin
Óir” has won a major award at the AIMS ANNUAL AWARDS CEREMONY 2006, which took place
in Killarney on 17th June, 2006. One of three finalists in the Sullivan section
for the category “Spirit of AIMS/’s Special Award”, Making Waves Productions were
delighted to win and be presented with the Gavin Hughes Trophy. Previous winners
of this award include, Wexford Light Opera Society, Malahide Musical Society and
Ballywillan Drama Group, Portrush.
The Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS) adjudicator, Peter O’Driscoll,
who is head of the Drama department in St. Patrick’s College, Drumcondra, Dublin,
highly commended all aspects of the show. In his adjudication, he congratulated
the production team, Leslie Long, Kathleen Ruddy and
Phil Dalton on the adaptation
and the music, thanking them for bringing “Caisleáin Óir” to life. He concluded
“One of the great features was the concentrated support everyone gave to the whole
performance. You are very lucky to have such a talented company and to have an appealing
new show.”
